Avalon Makes a Difference for Calgary’s Hungry Children at Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids
At Avalon Master Builder, giving back isn’t something we do, it’s something we love to do. Each month our staff roll up their sleeves to make lunches for Calgary’s hungry school children at Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids, www.bb4ck.org. In February our enthusiastic volunteers made 832 bagged lunches. With BB4CK staff’s careful organization, along with generous donors and helpful volunteers, sandwiches, baked goods and vegetables are prepared, packaged and delivered fresh each school day. Everyone at Avalon is proud to help ensure Calgary students, who otherwise would go hungry, have nutritious lunches so they can concentrate on school work, not rumbling, uncomfortable, empty tummies.
Without question the huge number of lunches made in February was helped along by the presence of our commander and chief, CEO Ryan Scott. Our other Avalon volunteers came from sales, construction and warranty. Go to BB4CK’s Facebook page to see their picture.
Children are our greatest resource, and since Avalon is dedicated to leaving a healthier world behind for them, it makes sense we want children to grow up strong and well educated so they can have a positive impact on our world.
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids takes away the barrier of hunger so children can learn and grow. Children are identified by Calgary schools who then contact bb4ck. Lunches are delivered all over the city each day and discreetly provided to the children. It only takes one dollar to prepare a lunch, so if you can’t volunteer, donations are always needed and welcomed. Go to www.bb4ck.org for more information.
