But unlike a typical home, sometimes , this home makes enough energy to send some back to the utility. So that annually the home produces enough energy to offset the amount purchased resulting in a net-zero annual energy bill. It produces as much energy (or more) as it uses.

Avalon leads the way as a pioneer GREEN© builder. We are constantly looking for intelligent new GREEN© home building technologies and exploring new products. The best way to test them is in a real home. So, Avalon builds the Discovery Home to demonstrate all the latest and greatest in environmentally efficient technology and how to be eco smart without sacrificing style. We are learning how easily we can all make a difference today and to the future.

The 2006 Avalon Discovery Home II combines state of the art energy efficient construction techniques and equipment with renewable solar energy to provide energy for use in this home. The Discovery Home generates enough of its own electricity so that annually, it results in a net zero electricity bill.
